The Story of Hadith al-Kisa: A Divine Moment with the Ahlul Bayt
One quiet afternoon in Medina, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) visited his beloved daughter Fatima al-Zahra (SA). His blessed face showed deep exhaustion. With tender care, Fatima (SA) draped her precious Yemeni cloak over his shoulders as a comforting cover.
Imam Ali (AS) entered and respectfully sat beside the Prophet (PBUH). Soon, Imam Hasan (AS) and Imam Husayn (AS) returned from playing outside. Imam Hasan (AS) kissed his grandfather’s forehead, while Imam Husayn (AS) joyfully embraced him.
Suddenly, a brilliant light filled the house. The angel Jibrael descended, announcing:
*"Allah sends His greetings and declares: These are My chosen ones."*
The Prophet (PBUH) spread Fatima’s cloak like a sacred canopy over all five of them. At that moment, the Verse of Purification (Ayat al-Tathir) was revealed:
*"Indeed, Allah desires to remove all impurity from you, O Ahlul Bayt, and purify you completely."*
(Quran 33:33)
### Miracles Under the Cloak
Beneath the cloak, divine miracles unfolded:
- Imam Ali (AS) was honored as the Guardian of Allah (Waliullah).
- Fatima (SA) was declared the Leader of All Women in Paradise.
- Hasan and Husayn (AS) were named the Masters of the Youth of Paradise.
Jibrael revealed: *"Allah has appointed 70,000 angels to serve this family."*
### Umm Salama’s Request
The Prophet’s wife, Umm Salama, approached and asked to join them under the cloak. The Prophet (PBUH) gently but firmly replied:
*"You are honored in your place, but this station is exclusively for these five."*
### A Heavenly Declaration
Voices from the heavens proclaimed:
*"These are the best of My creation! By My Majesty, whoever opposes them will be cursed!"*
The Prophet (PBUH) raised his hands in prayer:
*"O Allah! These are my Ahlul Bayt. Love those who love them, and humiliate their enemies!"*
### Lessons from Hadith al-Kisa
This sacred event teaches us:
✅ The Ahlul Bayt (AS) are sinless and pure
✅ Love for them is essential for salvation
✅ Opposing them leads to divine wrath
As mentioned in Ziyarat al-Jami’a al-Kabira:
*"Whoever seeks Allah must begin through you."*
