In the name of Allah

It may be interesting for you to know where the Shia and Sunni sects started and what areas they disagree on, even though they are both Muslims.

The beginning of this big difference stems from a big event, which is the incident of Ghadir Khum.

If you would like to hear the story of Ghadir Khum, join me.

In the last months of his life, the Prophet himself decides to go on Hajj and several thousand people help him on the journey and come to Mecca from other regions to see the Prophet for Hajj.

They called this Hajj the Farewell Pilgrimage because in this ceremony the Prophet bids farewell to all Muslims.

And he says that this is the last Hajj I am coming to and that I will not be in this world anymore.

When the Hajj ceremony was over and everyone was returning, Gabriel descended to the Prophet in a place called Khum and said, "O Prophet, announce your successor among this group." He warned that a group of enemies were waiting for you, but God will protect you from their harm. The Prophet ordered the group to stop and said, "Tell those who went ahead to turn back and we will wait for those who stayed behind to catch up with us." When the entire crowd gathered together, the Prophet ordered the camels to be piled up so that he could climb on them and deliver a speech.

The Holy Prophet of Islam takes Imam Ali's hand and goes on top of the camels and then starts speaking in the name and remembrance of the Merciful God there and addresses the Muslims saying do you accept that I am the Prophet of God and I know your best interests and I want your interests in this world and the hereafter?

All Muslims answer yes, O Messenger of God

And this question is repeated three times and the Muslims answer in the affirmative and it is recorded in history that about 120 thousand Muslims were present

Then the Prophet says that from today, whoever I am the Imam and leader of, Ali is also his Imam and leader and I invite you to obey Ali and then his twelve sons after him and love them and one by one he named the next Imams

Then the Muslims were happy and congratulated the Prophet and Imam Ali and pledged allegiance to him

Bayyat means shaking hands with him and since the women could not shake hands, they would put their hands in a bowl of water then Imam Ali would shake hands

But a miracle happened that surprised everyone

A man came and shouted Oh God, if Ali is to be our leader after the Prophet, send me a stone from the sky and kill me.

Suddenly, a stone came from the sky and fell on the man's head and he died.

Everyone realized that this appointment was truly from God.

And they went to their homelands from all over the Arabian Peninsula and brought the news of Ali's leadership to their fellow countrymen.

But bitter events happened after the Prophet, Abu Bakr became the leader, the story of which I will tell you in the next video.

But today, Eid al-Ghadir is of great importance to Shiites. They celebrate this day and prepare a variety of food and distribute it among the people.

On the day of Ghadir, Shiites bring many gifts to the newlyweds.

On this day, they organize carnivals and distribute chocolates.

They invite their religious scholars to give speeches about this important event and talk about the bravery and virtues of Imam Ali.

I have mentioned the bravery of Imam Ali in previous videos in Muslim wars.

Ghadir indicates that society must have a brave and strong leader so that it can implement justice in society.

Sunnis accept the incident of Ghadir but they say that the Prophet only wanted to say love Ali, not that he is a leader.

Shiites answer them by saying, did he gather 120,000 people and stop for a few days to say that he loves Ali?

If it was just love, this would not have been necessary.

And this is where the Shia and Sunni sects split.

Shiites consider the first leader and Imam to be Ali and his descendants, while Sunnis consider the first leader to be Abu Bakr, Omar, and Uthman.
