In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
I hope you find it interesting to know the differences and similarities between Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. So join me as I provide you with fascinating and exciting information.
The origins of Judaism date back about 3,500 years, beginning with the prophethood of Moses, which I mentioned in the previous video regarding the story of Prophet Moses and the formation of the Jewish people. The origins of Christianity began with the birth of Jesus, approximately 2,000 years ago, and I explained the story of Jesus and his mother Mary in the previous section. Islam, which began with the prophethood of Prophet Muhammad, started about 1,400 years ago, and you can watch the story of the life of the Prophet of Islam in the first videos.
Now, I will share the similarities of these three major world religions, each of which has influenced its followers. All three religions believe in the existence of God; however, Judaism and Islam believe that God is one, while Christianity believes in a triune God: God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Spirit. In Islam, associating partners with God is considered a great sin.
Another similarity among these three religions is the acceptance of prophets as representatives of God on Earth, who have come to guide people to the right path. Islam acknowledges Moses, Jesus, and all the prophets, and their life stories are mentioned in the Quran. Judaism and Christianity also accept the prophets, and their scriptures contain prophecies about the coming of the Prophet of Islam.
For more information about the prophecies of the religions regarding the Prophet of Islam, you can watch the second part of the video.
Another similarity among the three religions is their belief in life after death. They believe that individuals will see the rewards and punishments for their good and bad deeds. Muslims believe that righteous individuals will go to paradise, while the unjust will suffer in hell.
Another commonality is that all three have sacred texts. Muslims have the Quran, which they believe is from God and has not been altered. Anyone who claims that the Quran has been distorted is challenged to bring something like it. The Quran asserts that even with the help of angels and supernatural beings, one cannot produce anything similar to it.
The Jewish sacred text is called the Torah, which was written by Moses' followers after his death and is also referred to as the Old Testament. The Christian sacred text is called the Gospel, which contains the biography and teachings of Jesus, written by his disciples.
Each of the prophets had their own specific miracles. For example, Prophet Moses would throw his staff to the ground, and it would turn into a serpent. Prophet Jesus healed the sick and raised the dead. However, the only miracle of the Prophet Muhammad that can still be observed today is the Quran, which contains all the social and moral teachings of humanity.
All three religions believe in justice, kindness, and human values, and they teach their followers to love and care for others.
The greatest differences between Islam, Judaism, and Christianity lie in their customs and practices. For example, Muslims pray five times a day and fast during the month of Ramadan, culminating in a celebration at the end of Ramadan known as Eid al-Fitr.
On the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah, Muslims celebrate Eid al-Adha, where they sacrifice camels, cows, and sheep, distributing the meat to the poor. They also celebrate Eid al-Ghadir, which marks the appointment of Imam Ali as the leader.
During the month of Muharram, they mourn the martyrdom of Imam Hussein and distribute food to the poor and the community. Muslim girls are required to fulfill religious duties at the age of 10, while boys do so at the age of 15, and celebrations are held on that day.
Muslims gather every Friday at the mosque to perform the Friday prayer in congregation. Friday is an important day for Muslims because they believe that the savior, Imam Mahdi, will appear on a Friday.
Muslim women believe in modesty and hijab, which means they should dress modestly in public. In Islam, premarital sexual relations are prohibited, and the consumption of alcohol and pork is also forbidden.
Muslim women can receive payment from their husbands for household duties, pregnancy, and breastfeeding, while all living expenses are the responsibility of the man. Muslim women do not shake hands with unfamiliar men, and Muslim men also do not shake hands with unfamiliar women.
However, Christians also have their own specific customs and practices. During the Eucharist ceremony, they eat bread and drink wine in remembrance of the Last Supper of Jesus and his disciples. They celebrate Easter, during which Christians go to church. On the birthday of Jesus, they celebrate Christmas.
Many years ago, Christians used to appear in society with modest clothing, but due to events that occurred during the Middle Ages, most Christians set aside their religious practices and now appear in public without covering. The majority of people in Europe are Christians.
Jews also have their own special ceremonies, such as Passover, during which they prepare and eat special bread. Saturday is sacred to them, and they refrain from work and rest on that day. They celebrate the Bar and Bat Mitzvah ceremonies for their sons and daughters, marking their coming of age in the faith.
Jews constitute a much smaller population compared to Muslims and Christians, but they are considered a wealthy group, making up about two percent of the population in the United States while holding 80 percent of the wealth in the country.
